报告摘要：
This paper examines the internal migration in response to the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZ), a bundle of place-based policies, in China in the 2000s. Using a difference-in-differences approach, we document that cities exposed to the establishment of SEZ experience a 5 percent increase in the local population, driven by a rise in the urban population. In a micro view, individuals become 2 percentage points more likely to immigrate across provinces, most pronounced among individuals with rural Hukou. Besides the large-scale and almost non-selective migration from rural to urban areas, in terms of the directions of migration, the migration into the South accounts for 59.3% of the increase in people's willingness to immigrate, which hints at a huge geographic redistribution of labor force.

卞泽阳，上海理工大学副教授、硕士生导师，复旦大学经济学博士，《经济研究》、《管理世界》、《经济学》(季刊)匿名审稿专家。以第一作者在《经济研究》等权威期刊发表论文多篇，主持上海市哲学社会科学规划项目等课题多项。研究成果获得第十五届上海青年经济学者优秀成果奖、上海市社会科学界第十六届学术年会优秀论文奖等奖项。
