Water is the source of life, the foundation of ecology, and the key to production. This year, 22 March marks the 32nd World Water Day. From March 22 to March 28, the 37th China Water Week was held, with the theme of making good use of water resources and managing water resources strictly. In order to respond to the requirements of water conservation priority, spatial balance, system governance, and two-handed efforts, strictly manage water resources to cope with global competition, and promote the sustainable development of China, Hohai University's World Water Valley is in action.
World Water Valley is a world-class water science and technology R&D base and water innovation and entrepreneurship center promoted by Hohai University, with government, industry, academia, research, finance and culture as the basic model of collaborative innovation. In 2009, Hohai University put forward the concept of World Water Valley and began to explore the collaborative innovation model, after 15 years of continuous accumulation, it has formed a wide range of influence and cooperation networks at home and abroad, and has a solid foundation for accelerated development and physical implementation. Led by Professor Zhang Yang, the World Water Valley relies on the World Water Valley and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Water Ecological Civilization, and plans from a strategic height to sort out a set of think tanks, forums, academies, bases four-wheel drive and government, industry, academia and research strategic synergy methodology in the fields of water security, water resources, water environment, and water ecology. At this stage, a number of senior government proposals have been submitted, including the Strategic Proposal for the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Belt for the Southward Water Diversion Project in Lake Baikal, which have been adopted by the state and local governments. It has held 9 sessions of the World Water Valley Forum and the Overseas China Forum, forming a high influence in the field of water economy. The global network of World Water Valley has begun to take shape, with branches in Aba in Sichuan, Shenzhen in Guangdong, Vientiane in Laos, Vancouver in Canada, Sihanoukville in Cambodia and other places, and has established long-term strategic cooperative relations with international institutions such as the International Federation of Management Societies (IFSAM), the International Federation of Management Associations of East Asia (IFEAMA), the International Project Management Association (IPMA), and the Water Center of Columbia University in the United States.
In recent years, the World Water Valley has pragmatically promoted the work of strict and careful management of water resources, and has continued to make results: First, it has deepened international cooperation and cooperated with the International Project Management Organization (IPMA) to jointly establish the International Water Project Management Network (IPMA Water SIG), with Professor Zhang Yang as the first chairman, to share China's water resources management experience with the world and make China's voice heard in the field of project management. The second is to strengthen cultural self-confidence, co-host the First Greater Bay Area World Water Valley Water Cultural and Creative Competition with Nansha District, Guangzhou, adhering to the concept of inheriting the spirit of water culture and empowering the construction of the Greater Bay Area, and strive to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of water culture. The third is to refine the afterburner experience, and under the leadership of Professor Huang Dechun, he condensed the Case of the Integration of the First, Second and Third Industries of the Ecological Lobster Industry in Xuyi County to Promote the Value Realization of Ecological Products, Lishui District's Ecological Environment-oriented Development Empowers Green and Low-Carbon Development, Earth Scars Transform into Mountain Gardens - Ecological Butterfly Changes in Jiangsu Garden Expo Park and other cases, and was successfully selected as a Typical Case of Ecological Product Value Realization Case, providing experience for the construction of water ecological civilization.
The World Water Valley is deeply compatible with the disruptive technological innovation, green development and sustainable development emphasized by the new quality of productivity.
