Professional introduction
(1) Professional positioning
Accounting is the gatekeeper of an enterprise, which is of great significance for ensuring the safety of enterprise assets and promoting the value. Accounting is a common business language, and business activities must be communicated through accounting language. The more economic development, the more important accounting. With the operation and development of the socialist market economy, accounting will play a more important role in the market economy.
(2) Student training
The major of accounting in our school originated from business courses such as bookkeeping in Hehai Engineering School in 1915. In 1985, we set up a college of finance and accounting, in 1991, we set up a bachelor's degree in accounting, in 2003, we won a master's degree in accounting, and in 2010, we won a master's degree in MPAcc and a doctor's degree in business administration. After 36 years of development, the major has formed the remarkable characteristics of knowledge, literacy and ability combined training and teaching, learning and research are mutually beneficial in terms of talent training, and has achieved fruitful results.
This major actively adapts to the requirements of the new economic normal, focuses on education and teaching reform, and focuses on the cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship ability. The construction contents include: dynamically revising the training program, carrying out bilingual teaching, implementing the one-to-one tutorial system, and improving the graduate student promotion and exemption system for undergraduates. Our department has been approved to build five industry university research collaborative education projects with the Ministry of Education. We have jointly built an industry university research collaborative education platform and base with Sinopec Sharing Center, Beijing Zhilian Company, NetChina Network Company, Nanjing Gulou High tech Zone, Kingdee Company, and Zhongyun Guochuang Company, which not only provide students with practice places and research opportunities, but also provide employment opportunities for outstanding graduates, forming a long-term stable cooperative relationship.
Our accounting major has always encouraged and supported students to participate in various entrepreneurial competitions and discipline competitions. It has won two national gold awards, one bronze award, one provincial bronze award, and one national second prize of the Challenge Cup international special event in 2014 and 2016 Youth Creation National College Students Entrepreneurship Contest; The second place in the national finals of IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition and the second prize in East China; One second prize in the national final of the New Tao Cup sand table simulation operation competition, and several third prizes in the provincial competition.
(3) Higher education and employment
In recent years, the graduation rate of students has basically remained at about 95%, and the degree awarding rate is about 97%. Undergraduate students continue to study at a high rate, with the enrollment rate of about 40% in the past three years. Many of them have entered well-known universities at home and abroad, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Nanjing University, Tianjin University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Columbia University, the National University of Singapore, John Hopkins University, Durham University, etc. After graduation, students of this major can be competent in accounting, financial management, tax planning, internal control and corporate governance, CPA audit and other work in industrial and commercial enterprises, consulting intermediary enterprises, financial enterprises and administrative institutions, and have the professional and technical ability of accountants or equivalent. The employment destinations of former graduates are mainly in finance, securities, consulting, administrative departments, institutions, manufacturing and retail companies.
(4) Teaching staff
The teachers of this major all come from well-known universities in China, have overseas learning experience, have rich teaching and research experience, and have won honorary titles such as excellent teacher of IMA Management Accounting Case Competition of the American Association of Management Accountants, outstanding professor of Chinese MBA. Among the professional teachers, there are two excellent lecturers at the school level, one first prize of extracurricular lecture competition, and one national ten thousand excellent innovation and entrepreneurship tutor, There is one comprehensive evaluation expert for undergraduate majors in Jiangsu Province, one deputy director of Jiangsu Accounting Education Coordination and Development Center, and one international high-end accounting talent from the Ministry of Finance. He has undertaken research on many projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China, and has won Dayu Science and Technology Award, the first prize for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province, and many other awards. Our department has won one second prize for teaching achievements in Jiangsu Province, five textbooks, three teaching reform projects, five AOL courses, one excellent course for international students, and one provincial online course.
