Chen Yu, female, Han ethnicity, a member of the Communist Party of China, is a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Financial Engineering at Business School. She is currently a member of the organizing committee of Youth League branch and has served as the leader of the Ethnic Orchestra at Hohai University, the director of the Yiban Studio at the Media Center of the School of Business, and the main speaker of the Dream Open Class of Sailing · University Career Sailing Week in 2023. She has won 13 scholarships including the National Scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year, received 32 honorary titles, including Outstanding Student Cadre in Jiangsu Province and Top 10 Outstanding Students in Haiyun and Fenghua from Hohai University, and got six provincial-level or above competition awards, including the first prize in the National College Student Meteorological Technology Knowledge Competition Cultural Creativity Competition and the second prize in the 8th Oriental Fortune Cup National College Student Financial Challenge Provincial Competition. She presided over and participated in one national innovation and entrepreneurship training project for college students, five social practice activities, and was repeatedly rated as exemplary individual in summer practice. She published one paper as the first author and accepted one invention patent, participated in two consecutive college student art exhibitions and won one national first prize and two Jiangsu Province special prizes. I have now been exempted from pursuing a master's degree at East China Normal University.

Chen Yu, who has just entered university, is full of aspirations and expectations for the future, while also mixed with some concerns about unknown challenges. After learning that her high school grades were not ideal, she felt a sense of defeat in her heart. After organizing her thoughts, she told herself that this was only the beginning of a long college life, and that she should not be discouraged by just one setback. In search of hope amidst disappointment, she began to re plan her study schedule and improve her learning efficiency. In the following days, she always maintained a more and more courageous attitude, diligently attending every class and giving her all in every exam, hoping to make up for the lack of solid foundation in the first semester with more efforts. Every semester thereafter, her grades continued to improve and she ranked first in her major with a GPA of 4.91 in her junior year. Facing learning, work, and hobbies, Chen Yu often feels tired and difficult to choose from. But as she tried to break through and practice firsthand, she gradually realized that every aspect of her experience could bring her different gains and shape her multidimensional development. In the innovation and entrepreneurship training, she fully utilized her expertise and stage experience, combined with professional knowledge, to build a vertical art education service platform. In social practice, she applied theoretical knowledge learned from books to explore the economic development model of her hometown, and received multiple media reports, truly achieving the unity of knowledge and action. These experiences also made her deeply contemplate the significance of learning, develop her interests and hobbies, and enjoy the fun of learning and practice more calmly.
Get yourself successful, Art Exhibition Splendor
At the beginning of her enrollment, Chen Yu became a member of the Ethnic Orchestra of Hohai University with a love for art, and was selected to participate in the 6th College Student Art Exhibition with her solid bamboo flute skills. But from joining the team to participating in the provincial competition at the art exhibition, there was less than two months left for her, and as a performer of the new flute, she also had to undertake solo tasks in the repertoire.
The rhythm of the repertoire is complex, with emotions progressing layer by layer, and requires a high level of teamwork, all of which make her feel a heavy responsibility when participating in a national orchestral ensemble for the first time. In order to live up to the careful guidance of the teacher and the trust and expectations of her teammates, she dared not slack off at all. She immersed herself in practicing in the piano room for seven or eight hours in her spare time, often from dawn to dark. Her lips and fingers were already numb, but she didn't want to stop. After countless rounds of polishing and layers of competition, the team finally successfully completed its performance on the highest stage. The performance of the song Passionate Memories won the first prize in the country and the special prize in Jiangsu Province.
In 2023, her ethnic chamber music ensemble Shanyu Fantasy led by the head of the ethnic band won the first prize in the National College Student Meteorological Culture Creative Competition - Innovation Track. For ethnic bands, the emergence of new folk music pieces from school and their participation in creative competitions is a successful breakthrough; For her, this is also an experience of stepping out of her comfort zone, and her mission as a son of water is to spread the sounds of the river and sea, showcase the charm of the river and sea, and write about the weather of the river and sea.
This year, Chen Yu once again joined the participating team of the 7th College Student Art Exhibition. The team ranked first in the province in the A group performance and successfully qualified for the national competition once again. In the past three years, her mentality has become more mature and stable, and what remains unchanged is her unwavering love for folk music.

In terms of student work, Chen Yu insists on working with practical and responsible colleagues, always taking doing well as the goal, and doing every task with dedication and emotion.
During her tenure as a member of the organizing committee of the grade group branch, she planned and participated in various activities such as grade themed education, academic style construction, and cultural and artistic activities. She participated in various tasks as the person in charge, overall coordinator, and performer. The organized and planned choir display won the first prize of the campus cultural and artistic festival. As the head of the Easy Class Studio at the Media Center of the Business School, she focuses on her main responsibilities and efficiently serves her classmates. Starting from building a platform, she has created 9 micro community sections and published over 200 articles, covering all aspects of student growth from freshman enrollment education to graduate themed activities, helping students spend their college years with a sunny and positive attitude. As the leader of the Ethnic Orchestra at Hohai University, she firmly believes that being down-to-earth is the key to achieving stability and success. On the premise of constantly refining her basic skills, she is more committed to improving the artistic literacy and cooperation level of the team. She starts from daily training, develops targeted management systems, conducts efficient training, focuses on cultivating tacit relationships among team members, and enhances the overall artistic quality of the team from subtle aspects.
Her accumulated experience in student work has earned her the honorary title of Excellent Student Cadre in Jiangsu Province. She is well aware that what she has received is not only an honor but also a responsibility. During the period of sending literature and art to the countryside, she utilized her artistic expertise and volunteered to step off the stage, delving into the masses to popularize music knowledge, and contributing her youthful strength to the revitalization of rural culture and the construction of grassroots spiritual civilization in Shiquan County. She followed the art troupe to export a series of literary and artistic works in Shiquan County, while also continuously drawing on the achievements and stories of local rural revitalization.
