Since her teaching, Professor Zhang Jie has served as a class advisor, attaching great importance to students' ideological development. She promptly praises students for their progress and patiently helps them overcome temporary setbacks. As an undergraduate mentor, she assists students in early academic and career planning, resulting in several students she guided gaining admission to prestigious universities for graduate studies or studying abroad. She integrates ideological and political education into professional teaching, carrying out the construction of courses in ideological and political aspects, and has successfully completed two exemplary ideological and political education courses projects such as Accounting and Government and Non-profit Organization Accounting. She was awarded the title of Outstanding Undergraduate Mentor in 2014, Hohai University Outstanding Teacher in Online Teaching During the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, and Advanced Individual in Spiritual Civilization in 2021 and so on.

Professor Zhang Jie has been actively involved in undergraduate teaching reform research over many years. She has led two projects in the second batch of co-operative-education sponsored by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education in 2019, one school-level teaching practice reform project, and one small-scale teaching research project. She actively participates in guiding undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship projects, many of which have received provincial and school-level funding. As a graduate supervisor, she has guided a total of 35 graduate students in the past five years, including 9 academic-oriented master, 21 master of professional accounting, 4 Master of Business Administration (MBA), and 1 international student, with 3 master receiving national scholarships. The graduation theses supervised by her students were recognized as outstanding master's theses for professional degrees of Jiangsu Province in 2017.
In terms of research, she mainly engaged in research on resource and environmental management, government accounting, and environmental accounting. Over the past five years, she has published over 30 papers in her field, including 7 indexed in SSCI, 10 in CSSCI, and 10 in EI. She has led two projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, one project under the Humanities and Social Sciences Planning of the Ministry of Education, and two projects under Jiangsu Provincial Social Science Fund etc. She has also participated in national-level projects such as major projects of National Social Science Fund and general projects of National Natural Science Foundation. She has received awards such as the Third Prize of the 15th Jiangsu Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, the Second Prize of the China Federation of Commerce Science and Technology Award and so on. Professor Zhang Jie actively participates in academic peer review work and serves as a reviewer for several Chinese and English journals.
Professor Zhang Jie is a student nurtured by Hohai University, where she completed her undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies, and and continued to teach in Hohai University. She has a deep affection for Hohai University. Professor Zhang Jie integrates her deep love and passion for her alma mater into her work, passing it on to her students. In various academic activities, she actively promotes Hohai culture and embodies the Hohai spirit through her actions.
