From October 28th to 30th, 2020, the Higher Education Evaluation Expert Group of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development conducted an online re-evaluation of the engineering management major in our school. The inspection team is led by Professor Li Zhongfu of Dalian University of Technology, and its members include Professor Wang Enmao of Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Professor Liu Dongyuan of the China Communications First Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. Hohai University Vice President Dong Zengchuan and Director Shen Yang of the Academic Affairs Office attended the launch meeting. Vice President Lu Guobin and Deputy Director Chen Lei of the Academic Affairs Office attended the feedback meeting.
Vice President Dong Zengchuan delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school and introduced the school's educational development plan and support for the construction of the engineering management major. During the inspection, the expert group listened to reports on professional construction at the three levels of the school, college, and department. Organized and convened six video seminars including class teachers, academic administrators, student administrators, school students and graduate representatives; the focus was on the examination of graduation design (thesis), course examination papers, internship materials, as well as reference rooms, laboratories, and videos, pictures, text introductions and other related materials of various teaching practice places such as practice bases.
At the feedback meeting, the expert group highly evaluated the school-running results of the engineering management major of our school, and believed that the engineering management major of Hohai University has passed the evaluation and certification, which has promoted the construction of disciplines and basic teaching construction, promoted the construction of teaching style and style of study, and improved teaching management level and quality of higher education. After years of construction and development, relatively distinctive professional school-running characteristics have been formed. Students' comprehensive professional quality, practical ability, practical ability, and ability to learn after employment are relatively strong, and graduates are highly evaluated by employers. At the same time, the expert group also put forward suggestions for further improvement. Vice President Lu Guobin said that the school will attach great importance to the valuable opinions and suggestions of experts, and continue to improve, so that the construction of our school's engineering management major will reach a new level.
The national college engineering management professional evaluation was launched in 1999 and organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development as commissioned by the Ministry of Education. The Higher Education Engineering Management Professional Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development signed the Sino-British Engineering Management Professional Evaluation Mutual Recognition Agreement with the British CIOB in 2002 and 2006, respectively, and signed a mutual recognition agreement with the American ACCE, which reflects the international nature of the professional evaluation. As of May 2019, 54 colleges and universities have passed the assessment among more than 400 colleges and universities with engineering management majors across the country.HHBS’s engineering management major was first applied for and passed the evaluation in 2005 and became one of the 14 universities in the country that passed the engineering management major evaluation at that time. It passed the re-evaluation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development twice in 2010 and 2015. This is the fourth time our school has accepted Evaluation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
