Brief Introduction to Economics

     The Major of Economics is developed from the major of Industrial Economics. In 2010, the major of Economics was incorporated into the newly established Department of Economics and International Trade. The major of Economics in our university always keeps up with the pace of the times based on the economy of water conservancy technology, economics, applied economic.
Our major focuses on the development of students’ innovative awareness.  Through four years of systematic learning, students are required to master modern economic analysis methods, and they are engaged in the field of economic analysis, forecasting, planning and management in financial institutions and enterprises.
Currently, the major of economics has formed a group of faculty who are able to cultivate bachelors, masters and doctors for the country. Among them, there are academic leaders with high academic capability, and young and middle-aged teaching team full of teaching experience. There are now 20 full-time teachers and 2 part-time teachers in economics major, including 6 professors, 5 doctoral tutor, 10 associate professors, 6 lecturers. Vocational teachers account for 62.5% and 72.7% of them have doctor’s degree.
     Department of Economics and International Trade attaches great importance to the research work. In recent years, the Department of Economics has achieved outstanding achievements in the field of scientific researches for China’s economic construction and social development needs. The major of economics has formed two university-level research team with the average annual research funding of more than one million. In the recent five years, it has undertaken more than 50 research projects assigned by various types of funds, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Department. More than 80% of the backbones and professional teachers of economics major participate in the Project research projects of the university-level or above, including national and provincial fund projects, longitudinal project, horizontal projects, etc.
